The Story So
Far... |
||||||||
Theatre stories have always been a part of me. I enjoy them as a natural way to create with others. As a child, I loved creating plays in the moment with friends to perform before the class. During my degree in film studies at West Surrey College, I became fascinated with the Fool archetype, the 'zero resolution' to all equations. (In tarot, The Fool's card is the number 0, which is a reflection of the whole). Around the same time, I began to work with Meriel Hoare in her DrawnHome classes which have been a continual source of friendship, renewal and return to me. I went on to train with and then perform with The Festival of Fools. More than just a theatre company, this was a true company and a lifelong family. Since then, I have produced a number of solo/collaborative works. The Theatre of the Fool performances are each individual and spontaneous in their own right, but taken as a whole, they describe a journey. Adventures on the Treasure Road is intended as a series. The Curiosity Engine shows are linked together by the story of an engine powered by and producing ... curiosity. In 2002/3 I was in the Theatre of Now ensemble touring Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet directed by Jonathan Kay. This work revolutionised my relationship with theatre and was deeply moving. For more about Jonathan and his work, please see the links page. The Galaxy Playhouse Microcosmic Travelling Theatre opened in the Summer of 2006. I continue to produce shows, discovering new ways of being a fool each time. I love to work with others in ensemble and individually as a solo. In the future, I would like to be a part of a larger project with others to create a glade theatre. For me, theatrespace is a real dimension. It is a combination of factors: query, imagination, will, intention, invention, time and place. For more of the story so far please visit: |
