Delving into the treasure box, Adventures on the Treasure Road is an ongoing nine part series, exploring the world of the precious and the valued.
Each play takes one particular jewel along the Mohs scale (this is an order of hardness, starting with the softest, Amber, and going all the way through to Diamond, each jewel being able to scratch anything below it in the scale, but none after it).

The plays explore some of the myths, human stories and perceived qualities inherent within each jewel and create a continuous thread beginning with part one and running throughout the series. They also tell the continuing saga of shape-shifting treasure hunter and sleuth, Aloysius Monkey.

The performances are in the Theatre of the Fool style which means they are never exactly the same twice, being alive with creative freedom and of course the Fool's license.

Part one. A Triptych in Amber
First performance, The Grove, Malvern. March 2007

"A night of tales fine and fair!"

Working alongside celebrated singer/songwriter, Ray Mytton, this was the story of a religious artefact, which contained within it a very special secret.

Spanning 44million years and incorporating such things as the story of Paethon, slave labour, the Teutonic Knights, the daughter of the mountain and the birth of Hindu deity Kumara, not to mention Ray's sublime songs, A Triptych in Amber saw Aloysius Monkey set out on the Treasure Road (narrowly surviving a Venetian poisoner) with proud aplomb.

"Thank you for tickling me, you are totally unique"

"Oh, what comes through! All worlds I would travel to be with this that you gift... these stories move like good food, a good remedy"
